US$150NABCEP PV Associate — application and exam

US$25 application plus US$125 exam, paid directly to NABCEP. Candidates testing in Canada pay no international testing surcharge — the US$75 surcharge applies outside the United States and Canada. Training is a separate decision, and an optional one.

Which course do you actually need?

Three questions. It will tell you when the answer is “none of them”.

No Canadian training provider publishes its prices. We decided that was ridiculous.

Every other route to a solar credential in this country runs through a contact form and a call-back. You cannot compare what you cannot see, so buyers default to the American online providers, who do publish. Here is the whole price list, on the second page of the site.

What we run

Four ways in, and one of them is free.

The credential is set by NABCEP. What we sell is the fastest honest route to being ready for it, in whichever format you can actually attend — plus the safety tickets a site will ask for before it lets you on a roof.

Four things most training pages will not tell you.

They cost us sales. They are still true, and you would find them out afterwards anyway.

The claim you will see
What is actually the case
Where it comes from
“Our course gets you certified”
No course certifies anybody. NABCEP sets, delivers and scores its own examinations, and it does not require any particular course — including ours. Training raises what you know. It cannot move a cut score.
NABCEP sets the exam
“Accredited provider, so it is easier”
Being a registered exam provider means we are authorized to administer the exam properly. It buys you a seat and a room. It buys you no advantage in the room.
Exam provider agreement
“PV Associate makes you an installer”
PV Associate is an entry-level knowledge credential. The professional certifications — Installation Professional, Design Specialist and the rest — require documented installation experience that no classroom can substitute for.
NABCEP requirements
“Ask us for a quote”
A price behind a form is a price that changes depending on who is asking. Ours are on the pricing page, the same for everyone, updated when they change.
Our policy

And one structural thing. Solar Canada trains. It does not issue credentials, and it does not sit on the body that would. Where a Canadian certification board exists or comes to exist, an exam seat here is priced and scheduled identically for candidates who trained somewhere else — because a testing centre that favours its own students is not a testing centre.
